It took four days to get the field playable at Butte College due to rain, but the Roadrunners’ baseball team defeated Feather River College 4-1 Monday in a game rescheduled from Friday.
Butte lost the first game of the series Thursday at FRC, won the second game of the doubleheader, and Monday’s win at Butte gave the Roadrunners the series victory.
Butte led 2-1 after four innings, and got two insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to secure the win. The Roadrunners outhit the Golden Eagles 9-3 led by four hits by catcher Connor Pawlowski.
Jackson Parmenter had a pinch-hit two-RBI double down the left field line in the eighth inning, and Drew Carrington and Aidan Robles had one RBI each.
Roadrunners’ pitcher Mason Ali improved to 7-0 after tossing 109 pitches (75 strikes) in nine innings, allowing three hits, one earned run, two walks, while striking out four. Ali didn’t allow a hit until the fourth inning, and then his next hit allowed came in the eighth with one out.
Butte (18-10, 10-4 Golden Valley Conference) will face Feather River twice more to conclude the regular season. Butte plays at Feather River at 2 p.m. April 25, before the Roadrunners’ regular season finale at 2 p.m. April 26 at Butte College.
Pleasant Valley 5, Orland 4: Pleasant Valley improved to 5-1 and 3-0 in the Eastern Athletic League with its home win.
Moodal Lee, Euvene Lee and William Pechkis won their singles matches for the Vikings. The teams of Moodal Lee and Euvene Lee, and Pechkis and Jimmy Lauderdale won in doubles for PV.
No stats were reported by Orland.
Orland (6-2) plays next at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Gridley, before hosting West Valley at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
PV plays next at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Shasta, before hosting Red Bluff at 4 p.m. Thursday.
