The Pleasant Valley softball team won two games and lost one on the first day of the Vikings’ home tournament Friday in Chico.
The Vikings lost 5-2 to Inderkum, before defeating Nevada Union 18-0 and defeating McKinleyville 11-2.
In game one, the Vikings were out-hit 6-5, with runs batted in coming from Lily Thurman and Grace Ferro. Ella Thurman pitched seven innings and allowed six hits, five earned runs, one walk and struck out seven.
In game two against NU, the Vikings scored 10 runs in the first inning and eight runs in the third. Bella Cox, Lily Thurman, Macey Galaxy, Alissa Snipes, Kodi Aisthorpe and Ferro had two hits each. Snipes had five RBI, and Aisthorpe and Lily Thurman had three RBI each. Aisthorpe tossed four innings and allowed two hits, no walks and struck out 10.
No stats were reported for the game against McKinleyville.
PV (3-1) continues tournament play Saturday against Yuba City and University Prep.
Prep baseball
Pleasant Valley Spring Classic: Pleasant Valley tied Del Norte 6-6, before losing 7-6 to Wheatland.
In game one, PV took a 3-0 lead after two innings, Del Norte scored five runs in the third and one in the seventh, but PV scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie. Jake Dahl led PV with two of PV’s four hits. Grant Guichard, Joseph Garcia and Holden Franks combined to pitch seven innings, allowing six hits, six runs (one earned), five walks and seven strikeouts.
In game two against Wheatland, the Vikings took a 6-0 lead after two innings, but allowed four runs in the third, two in the fourth and one in the fifth. Dahl had two more hits in game two, and Lucas Benson and Scotty McKeown had two RBI each.
Brayden Lohse, Ashton Carr and Benson combined to pitch 4 1/3 innings, allowing four hits, seven runs (four earned), four walks and eight strikeouts.
PV (4-1-1) continues play in the PV Spring Classic Saturday.
Chico 3, Foothill 3: The Panthers and Cougars tied at the PV Spring Classic.
Foothill scored three runs in the first, and Chico scored once in the third and twice in the sixth. Jaden Neugebauer led Chico with two hits and two RBI.
Carter Miles and Neugebauer combined to pitch seven innings, allowing four hits, three earned runs, five walks and nine strikeouts.
Chico (4-1-1) continues play in the PV Spring Classic Saturday.
Prep boys tennis
Pleasant Valley 8, Shasta 1: PV won at home Friday in Eastern Athletic League action.
Moodal Lee, Euvene Lee, Jimmy Lauderdale, William Pecks, Nico Lopez and Lyle Aiken won in singles for the Vikings.
The doubles teams of Moodal Lee and Lauderdale, and Euvene Lee and Gavin Anderson won in doubles.
PV (3-0, 2-0 EAL) plays next at 4 p.m. Tuesday at home against Enterprise.
College baseball
Chico State 26, Stanislaus State 4: Chico State scored six runs in the first inning, four in the second, three in the third, five in the seventh and eight in the nine in its road win Friday.
The Wildcats out-hit the Warriors 22-4, and took advantage of 11 walks. Alexander Johnson and Lorenzo Mariani had three hits each, and Jesse Gadd, Jeremy Keller, Troy Kent, Elijah Pascual and Kaden Bass had two hits each. Johnson and Andrew Crane had four RBI each, Bass had three RBI, and Pascual, Phoenix Casias, Keller, Gadd and Mariani had two RBI each.
Keller, Gadd and Johnson had one double each, Gadd had a triple, and Stefan Foley and Crane had one home run each. Nolan Meredith, Christian Eijkman, Caden Reitzenstein and Jame Courshon combined to allow 14 hits, four earned runs, one walk and 10 strikeouts.
Chico State (9-5, 4-5 California Collegiate Athletic Association) continues play at 1 and 4 p.m. Saturday in Turlock, before the two teams close the four game series at noon Sunday in Turlock.
Butte 13, Redwoods 2: Butte scored seven runs in the sixth inning en route to its home win.
The Roadrunners out-hit Redwoods 12-10 and took advantage of eight errors by the Redwoods’ defense.
Aidan Robles had three hits and two RBI, and Carter Lyons, Jaden Thomson and Jackson Parmenter had two hits each. Brody Boyle had three RBI and Thomson had two RBI. Boyle and Parmenter had one home run each.
Shaw Lee, Hunter Timothy, Jacob Cullen and Brandon Doran combined to pitch nine innings, allowing 10 hits, two earned runs, three walks and nine strikeouts.
Butte (15-7, 7-1 Golden Valley Conference) plays next at 2 p.m. Friday at Lassen.
College softball
Sonoma State 8-1, Chico State 2-1: The Seawolves swept the Wildcats in a doubleheader Friday in Chico.
Chico fell behind 4-1 after the first inning, and the Wildcats’ four errors on defense made a difference. Tayler Berens, Lilly Cante and Hannah Levy had two hits each for Chico, and Berens and Levy had one RBI each. Amelie Valdez and Sophia Tassinari combined to allow 12 hits, eight runs (six earned), three walks and nine strikeouts.
In game two the Seawolves scored the lone run of the game in the sixth inning on a single to left field, as Sonoma out-hit Chico 7-3. Katelyn Olden and Valdez combined to pitch seven innings, allowing seven hits, one earned run, one walk and seven strikeouts.
Chico State (3-14, 3-11 CCAA) plays next at noon and 2 p.m. Saturday, before beginning play against Academy of Art at 4:30 p.m. March 22 in the Stanislaus State Tournament of Champions.
