My March 13 “Editor For A Day” op-d regarding fast-food minimum wages stated: “On April 1, minimum wage for “fast-food employees only” will rise 25% to $20 per hour under AB 1228. The minimum salary will be twice the minimum wage or $83,200 per year.”
AB 1228 fast-food wages will consist of two wage components; a minimum wage for regular hourly employees, and a minimum salary for salaried management positions. The minimum hourly wage will be $20 per hour. The minimum management salary will be twice the minimum wage or 2080 x $40 = $83,200 per year.
A March 15 “Letter to the Editor” by Marla Stratton of Chico titled “Basic math with a ‘minimum’ effort” incorrectly misinterpreted this information and criticized my arithmetic, which was actually correct. I hope this clears up any math-related misinterpretations regarding hourly and salaried fast-food wages. Thanks for everyone’s support!
