The Chico High girls tennis team swept the singles and doubles division for the Eastern Athletic-Sacramento River League championship on Monday at the Community Park tennis courts.

Chico High’s Eloise Deflandre defeated Pleasant Valley High’s Ladann Kiassat in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, to take the singles title.

For the doubles championship, the pair of Deflandre and Anna Brown defeated PV’s duo of Kiassat and Christina Wattenburg, 6-3, 6-2.

Chico will play Pleasant Valley for the NSCIF championship at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Community Park tennis courts. If the match is rained out on Wednesday, it will be moved to Thursday at the same time and place.

Prep Girls Field Hockey

Chico 2, Yuba City 0 >> The Panthers were led by sophomore duo Izzy Bishop and Olivia Stover to win their final game of the regular season.

The two forwards battled their way up the field, until Stover found Bishop in front of the goal eight minutes before the half.

Another passing sequence in the second half would lead Stover finding Bishop yet again for the Panthers’ second and final goal.

Lindsey Henry, Olyvia Simpson and Claire Bultema each had an impact on maintaining Chico’s lead and preserving the shutout.

Chico (9-4-1) plays on Saturday in Davis for the conference postseason tournament.
