VENTURA, Calif. (AP) — A man convicted in a 1982 kidnapping case in Ventura County has been sentenced to seven years to life in prison.
Delton Lynn Taylor was arrested in the cold case about three years ago when DNA evidence led authorities to him.
The kidnapping occurred Feb. 19, 1982 in Oxnard after Taylor approached a woman getting into her vehicle outside a grocery store.
Prosecutors said he drove the car to a school, where he raped and robbed her at knife point.
Officials said Taylor could not be charged with rape because the statute of limitations had expired.
The Ventura County Star reported (http://bit.ly/1Rcq83Q) the 55-year-old Taylor was sentenced on Monday.
