A vandal hurled a bag of urine, feces, paint and rubbing alcohol inside a Novato supermarket on Sunday, forcing the closure of the store for a hazardous materials investigation, fire officials said.

The incident occurred at about 5 p.m. at the Harvest Market in the San Marin neighborhood. The suspect threw the bag at the meat counter and ran out, said Novato fire Capt. Robert LaCroix.

The store was shut down and cleared of employees and customers while the Marin County Hazardous Materials Response Team investigated the spilled substance.

No injuries were reported.

Authorities are investigating whether the incident stemmed from a dispute involving a person and the store on Saturday, LaCroix said.

The Novato Police Department said it encourages anyone who saw the incident to call police at 415-897-4361.
