Sofia Vergara insists she was not one of Bill Cosby’s alleged sexual assault victims, firing back at rumors that emerged after a radio show revisited the lascivious comments Cosby made to her during a 2003 interview while guest hosting for David Letterman on “The Late Show,” People magazine reported.

Wow, 2003 seems such a long time ago, back when Cosby was such a powerful and respected comedy icon that he would be invited to sit in for Letterman. And, that was still a time when he figured people would think he was charming and funny for peering lewdly at a then-younger and little known Vergara and saying things like, “When men look at you, and they think only of sin.”

Cosby, who played family man Cliff Huxtable on “The Cosby Show,” also complimented the eventual star of “The Modern Family” on her multi-colored dress. He noted that people became “very attentive” when she walked out, before adding “You make me feel young again, you make me feel excited.”

Vergara was on “The Late Show” to promote one of her first major films, “Chasing Papi.” People magazine said a clip of the interview recently resurfaced on YouTube, and apparently prompted the Spanish-language radio show El Candela to tweet, “It’s rumored if she could’ve been one of his victims.”

But Vergara said no, taking to Twitter to deny having any kind of non-sexual encounter with Cosby. “Respect people. Stop inventing nonsense,” she wrote in her native tongue.

Over the past year, more than 50 women have alleged they were victims of the former sitcom star and have accused him of drugging them or sexually assaulting them.

Cosby has denied the accusations. While currently battling several civil lawsuits in jurisdictions across the country, he has not been criminally charged.
