SAN RAMON — A handful of small earthquakes rattled the East Bay again on Monday and early Tuesday, as a swarm of shakers continues to hit the San Ramon area.

The largest quake was a 3.1-magnitude temblor with a depth of 5.7 miles that struck at 1:46 a.m. Tuesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The smallest quake on Monday — a 2.7-magnitude shaker with a depth of nearly 5 miles — hit at 11:33 a.m., USGS officials said.

The tremors occurred on the Calaveras Fault, which has produced more than 400 small quakes centered in and near San Ramon in the past two weeks. They have been felt in several nearby East Bay cities, including Danville, Dublin and Pleasanton.

No injuries or major damage have been reported.

The small quakes do not necessarily indicate that a larger earthquake is on the way, according to the USGS.
