IRELAND: The Gervolino family — Janet, Sam, Joe, Rachel and Lou — went to Ireland this summer. The Danville family traveled more than 1,100 kilometers around the southern portion of Ireland, saw the Ring of Kerry (pictured) and visited “several great cities — Dublin, Cork, Killarney and Galway,” Lou says. “We also visited Trinity College and saw the Book of Kells and, of course, Blarney Castle. Great times traveling with my wife and three children!”
Travel tips: “Get full coverage if you rent a car. I knocked the mirror off and it cost me 700 euro!”

INDIA: Atherton residents Susan and Richard Warren are just back from adventures in India, including a stop at the Taj Mahal (pictured) and a tiger safari in Ranthambore National Park in Rajasthan.
Travel tips: They traveled with cameras at the ready, capturing images of a tiger hunting — successfully — and other memorable sights. “Be prepared to take spontaneous photos to enhance your memories,” they said.

CUBA: On a recent trip to Havana, longtime friends John and Patty Cannon, of Watsonville, and Ray and Judy Salvano, of San Jose, took in the sights, including Fidel Castro’s Plaza de la Revolucion, where “an iron sculpture of Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara covers the side of the Ministry of the Interior building,” Ray says. “The words ‘hasta la victoria siempre’ (‘toward victory forever’) are written beside it. These kinds of images are found everywhere in Havana, from the biggest billboards to the smallest of street graffiti.”
Travel tips: “We booked a weeklong tour of Havana through Cuba Explorer. A little warm and humid, but it made the mojitos that much more refreshing and taxi rides in 1950s Chevy convertibles a lot of fun! Going on this well-run tour enabled us to see and experience many things off the beaten path of your average tourist, and helped us gain a better understanding of the history — from their perspective — and culture of Cuba and its people. Plus, with relations now improving between the U.S. and Cuba, we wanted to experience it as it is today, with little or no influence from the U.S. for the past 50+ years.”
