I was born in Chico and have lived in the area most of my life. I was lucky to have most of my 38-year teaching career in Chico. But I rarely read the E-R because your paper was often blaming teachers for all sorts of problems in our society.
I was very happily surprised when I read Cynthia Tucker’s opinion about how the right has a problem with diversity, affirmative action, and inclusion. That is not a right-leaning opinion. She ended with a simple truth. “The real problem is racism.” And it’s so sad. We have millions of people in our country who are scared of the changes going on. If I could sit down with each of them, I would give them a hug and say, “It will be OK. You will still be loved, there is nothing to fear.”
