It was about 7:30 a.m. and I was at Beyond Fitness Gym on Pentz Rd. The maintenance man came in and said he saw fire coming from the east. We went outside and saw the black smoke with the fire glowing from the middle of it coming towards us.
We knew this was the one. We lived in the Bille Pentz Rd. area. I returned home to our neighborhood already filling with smoke. The wind was at a strong velocity and the smoke was getting blacker. We were lucky enough to have a back way out of the neighborhood to get to Clark Road and down to Highway 70.
We lived in our RV in Red Bluff until early 2019. We sold our property in 2019 and bought a home in Redding. Our trips back to Paradise were frequent and heart wrenching.
In late 2022 we noticed building prep. at our old property. Early 2023 a friend told us the contractor was the one who bought the lot and was building to sell. We met with the contractor and ended up buying this new house on our old property! We are happy and we are home.
