JOSEPHINE NANCY ADELFIO Josephine Nancy Adelfio, 98 years old, formerly of New City, New York, passed away of natural causes in Chico, California on March 18. Josephine was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1925 to her parents, Frank and Nancy (Gazzo) Ferraro. She graduated from the Pratt Institute in 1946, while working as a draper and clothing designer for Saks Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. Josephine loved to listen to big band swing music, especially the songs from her childhood friend, Vic Damone. In 1949, she married Frank Gene Adelfio and they spent over 67 years together raising two children. She is preceded in death by her son, James Francis Adelfio, who passed away in 1996 and her husband, Frank Gene Adelfio, who passed away in 2017. She is survived by her daughter, Francine Nadine Sherman (husband Frederick), her granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Smith (husband Patrick), her grandson, Frederick William Sherman IV, and three great-grandsons: Connor James Smith, Wade Paul Smith (wife Tayler) and Luke Frederick Smith. Josephine was a strong Italian-American matriarch, who guided her family with wisdom, love and strength as family meant everything to her. We all miss her dearly.
