COLBY MATTHEW RICHER March 23, 1999 November 2, 2023 On November 2, 2023, Colby passed away suddenly. Left to cherish the memories of his 24 years of life, are his father John Richer (Cheryl); mother, Dorrie Watson (David); siblings, Hayley (Daniel); John Jr.; Cassidy; and Bethany, his twin sister. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Beverly Hartman. Colby was a good natured, sensitive soul; always looking for the good in others. His smile would light up a room, and his laughter, contagious. From a very young age, he loved anything to do with building. He had an absolute infatuation with anything Lego. From the smallest of builds to those far more elaborate, like the Star Wars Death Star and Millennium Falcon. Taking his love of building to the next level, just two short years ago, he and his dad rebuilt a car engine together from the ground up. He also loved superheroes, both DC and Marvel, he secretly wanted to be a superhero, saving the world from pain and heartbreak. Colby’s other interests included drawing, both by hand and digitally; writing fan-fiction cross over stories; anime; dabbling in mixed media arts; all types of music Colby was always singing or humming; loved Jeff Dunham and The Big Bang Theory. He enjoyed the daily steps/fit bit competition he and his mom would have. Colby loved a good cheeseburger, milkshakes, cheese pizza, and anything he could cover in parmesan. Colby loved spending time with his siblings and taking funny selfies. In the summer, he loved to swim and eat watermelon. Colby loved his niece, Addie, and shared his treasured Thomas the Tank trains with her. Missing the birth of his nephew by one month, he would’ve introduced Weston to all things he himself loved as a child. One of Colby’s greatest experiences was having the opportunity to go to college with three of his four siblings. He’d tutor his two youngest sisters in math, never truly understanding what was so complicated about Statistics. Colby and his brother would meet up for lunch on campus and discuss their day. Colby graduated from Butte College with two degrees, one in Studio Arts, and one in Art Design. He was attending Chico State, majoring in Computer Animation at the time of his passing. A Celebration of Life to honor Colby’s life is planned for Saturday, April 13th at the CARD Center in Chico CA, from 1pm to 4pm. All friends and family are welcome.
