The Discovery Shoppe, a non-profit organization in business in Chico since 1959, donates its profits to local charities each Fall of the year. Discovery Shoppe volunteer, Denese Orr, left, was pleased to present a check for $9,600 to Ingrid Cordes of the Pawprint Spay/Neuter Assistance Program, or P-Snap. The funds received from The Discovery Shoppe will be used to subsidize their client’s co-payments in order to cover half of the cost of spaying or neutering their pets. The Discovery Shoppe, located at 315 Flume Street in Chico, has an all-volunteer staff. This year they donated over $137,690 to sixteen local charities.
How to submit a snapshot
Snapshots, reader-submitted photos of community events, are published Monday. They may include service projects, guest speakers at club meetings, awards being presented or kids doing school projects. Just make sure there are people in the photo — no more than 12 — and keep it current.
Send a high-resolution JPG with a paragraph explaining the content of the photo: who (in left-to-right order with last names), what, where, when and why to snapshots@chicoer.com. Non-digital submissions will not be accepted at this time.
We can’t accept photos about businesses, private events or those adorable pet photos.
